(POTEAU, OKLAHOMA) – The City of Poteau and Poteau Chamber of Commerce will be changing things up for this year’s Independence Day Festival, Thursday July 4th.

All the events will start at 6:00 p.m. with the City Sponsored Fireworks Display at dark. Those attending can expect more things for kids to do this year. Organizers are planning more games for kids with lots of free prizes.

Poteau Chamber is looking for volunteer organizations, churches and businesses to create and set up games for kids. This year Poteau Chamber, Sponsors and Businesses will provide great prizes for kids ages 1-12 years.

Organizers will not provide water slides this year for the kids allowing more things for kids to take home from playing the games.

For those that love to bring lawn chairs and enjoy music there will be a brand-new band, 7 Day Weekend.

The band will bring a variety of music and end the night with a patriotic medley to open the huge City of Poteau Fireworks Display. The Poteau Chamber will have a concession serving Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Chips and Drink only $5.00.

You can also find the general items such as nachos, popcorn etc. The Poteau Evening Lions Funnell Cakes will be at the event again this year.

The City of Poteau, Donald W. Reynolds Center, Poteau Chamber of Commerce invites every one of all ages to bring your lawn chairs and come out for a night of fun that is FREE to all that attends.

Kids will have a chance to register for special prizes that will include a chance to win bicycles sponsored by Jack’s Jewelers and Wal-Mart. Must be present to win. Drawing is at 8:00 p.m.

As any event, this would not be possible without the support of the many sponsors.
