Lodge #13 recently donated $2000 to help families living with disabilities in eastern Oklahoma. Each lodge donated $1000 thanks to a match from the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma. Funds raised will help with the Sensitive Santa
program held by the Pervasive Parenting Center.
During a regular meeting Dec. 5, at the Murrow Lodge in Spiro,Director Kodey Toney was presented with two checks for $1000.
Joe Damato, worshipful master at the Murrow Lodge #49 in Spiro, along with Rick Deaton, worshipful master at Mosholatubbee Lodge #13 in Cameron together provided $2000 that will be used for the PPC’s holiday program.
The PPC holds a Sensitive Santa each year to help provide individuals with disabilities, and more specific, sensory issues, a place to visit with Santa without all the distractions of a department store Santa. The group provides Santa in LeFlore,
Sequoyah, Haskell, Latimer, Cherokee, and Adair Counties. Thisis the 13th year for the program, and according to PPC director Kodey Toney, this was a much-needed assistance this year.
“This is our 13th year to host this event and we have so much fun,” said Kodey Toney, center director. “We are working hard to help the families of this area coping with disabilities find resources to help make life better. The funds raised from this
event can help us continue to achieve that goal. We were not sure where the funding for this year would come from. It takes a lot to cover six different counties. This was a blessing for sure.”
The Pervasive Parenting Center, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, was launched in 2014 to help families in eastern Oklahoma find resources available for people diagnosed with autism and other disabilities. They provide training, screenings, parent support
groups, social groups, and other services free to local families.
