Choctaw Nation Head Start Programs Stickball Demonstration Held at CASC Featured

The Choctaw Nation Head Starts of Poteau and Stigler were presented a hands-on stickball demonstration on November 28, 2017. The event was held at the Carl Albert State College Poteau campus in the Mick Thompson Fitness Center.


According to Leslie Franks, STEM Assistant for the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma-Jones Academy, Ross Green and Dewayne Hornbuckle worked with the students during the demonstration to showcase Choctaw culture.

Green works for Choctaw Nation’s Culture Services and Hornbuckle is a Youth Outreach Advisor. Both are currently on a stickball team and coach youth stickball teams. Joy Tribbey, a Project Director with Choctaw Nation, organized the event.


CASC Vice President of Student Affairs Randy Graves stated the College was pleased to be able to provide facilities for the event.
