POTEAU, Oklahoma - Elected City Officials for the city of Poteau took their Oath of Office on Monday, April 15, 2019.
City Attorney Marc Bovos administered the Oath to newly elected city council members, street commissioner, Police Chief and Poteau Mayor.
The Oath which states:
That the officials do solemnly swear that they will support, obey and defend the constitution of the United States, and the Constitution of the State of Oklahoma, and that they will not knowing, receive, directly or indirectly, any money or other valuable thing, for the performance or nonperformance of any act or duty pertaining to their office, other than the compensation allowed by law; they further swear that they will faithfully discharge their duties to the best of their ability.
Taking the oath were:
Poteau City Council member, Monte Shockley II; Poteau City Council member, Matt Lamb; Poteau Mayor, Scotty White; Poteau Police Chief, Stephen Fruen; City Council member, Clay Bennett; City Council member, Jim Sommers and Poteau Street Commissioner, Jim Seale.
Having taken his Oath of Office, Mayor Scotty White took his spot at the podium and says he excited about his new adventure and looks forward to what God has in store for the future of Poteau.
