As I was doing research for this week’s article, I noticed this “Coastal and Western” genre (Style) of music mentioned on this band’s fb page. This original description of their sound is more easily defined after hearing this band of misfits live on stage. They cover a lotta styles and can change directions in the time it takes to tune a “G” string. Scot Francis and Larry Taylor got throwed together down at Dawn’s/Red Oak a while back. All of a sudden, “The Shady Oak Tribadours” have the rest of 2023 booked almost solid. Few dates are open so check out their fb page. Along with prob the very best drummer in a box, there is Joel Billy/many harps and Dennis Dooley/Thunder bass to round out their sound. It’s good listening by the hardest working band that I know. They play the Boar’s Nest up in Rogers on Thursday 13th from 7-10, Friday 14th, “The Shady Oak Gospel Tribadours” at Crocky’s Cafe in Hackett starting at 6 pm and at The Spiro Eagles at the Regular Sat. nite dance on Sat. 15th. Ya can hear their music from 7 pm til closing. So, grab your partner and Do C Doe!
Live Music this week. Sat. 15th, speakin’ of Crocky’s, “Paul and Back in the Day” take the outdoor stage and play from 7 pm til 9 or so.
“The Stagemasters will be at the Ft Smith Senior Activity Center(Cavanaugh Rd.)on Friday 14th. Music kicks off at 7 pm. Awesome Country songs and a big dancefloor in this NS/ND venue.
Dawn’s Diner will have “Earl Hearon and the Sound of Country” for the Friday 14th dance. “Big Marty and the Dirty Dogs” will play on Sat. 15. Both nites the music starts at 6 pm. Grab a bite of the great food and then dance to keep it from settlin’ in the caboose.
“The Rhythm Coalition” will be Jammin’ at Ava’s in Fianna. This place is a great fit for these guys. Lotta funk, R&B, Original instrumentals, all laid down with attitude. A very interesting mix of tunes. They play from 8 til Midnite!
“The Black Diamonds” hit the stage of their Summer Tour 2023 at Iron Horse Records. It’s on Main St. in Van Buren, Ark.
8pm til Midnite! Saturday 15th, There will be Rock & Roll sounds coming from Red’s in Alma. “Grannie’s Nightmare” put on a great show. They will cover Rock tunes in their Power Trio style. From Blues, slow ballads to the fast and furious, catch their excitin’ show. Music from 8 pm til Midnite.
Muldrow City Limits opens the doors about 5 pm and the dancing starts at 7 pm. This Sat. 15th, “Backroads” will play your favorites and prob have time for a request or two. Great place, NS/ND event hall. Keep an eye out for my Mom, Wanda and Raymond. They have plans to be there.
Friday 14th, “The Libby Starkes Band” has a late show, 10 pm til ?, at Roosters on Garrison Ave. Stop by and listen to this Lady sing. She has a great band and puts 110% into every song. Then on Sat.15th, She will sing at the New Blaine VFW starting at 8 pm.
