State Rep. Lundy Kiger (R-Poteau) has recorded a video in which he explains his proposal for a county Poultry Industrial Complex for LeFlore County. “Instead of having all 114 proposed poultry houses for LeFlore County be located throughout the area – poultry operations that don’t seem to be the normal family farms we are used to

– I’m proposing a singular location with around 2000 acres to house all these proposed houses with an industrial access road and large raw water storage that could easily provide for all the surrounding poultry houses,” Kiger said.

“This singular location would help to lower cost for the industry as well as make it easier to supply power and natural gas to each house. This will help put distance between the chicken houses and the communities.

With the lower costs and the ability to grow without any complaints from the neighbors, Kiger said he believes farmers and companies would love the opportunity to build on these complexes and it will help the industry continue to grow and prosper.
