Welcome to my weekly commissioners’ corner. I hope everyone has enjoyed the much-needed rain last week around the county, the temperatures look like they are returning this week so make sure you are drinking plenty of water if you are like our crews and you work outside.
This past week we worked out around Milton. If you are not familiar with that community it is around the Bokoshe area. Speaking of Bokoshe, if you are looking for a great place to eat Grammy’s Place fixes just about anything you can think of, and if it’s not on the menu ask Helen I promise you she can cook it like your momma used to.
Crews also began the Pocahontas/Mine Road project. It is already looking great. Please be patient as you drive that area with the crews. We hope to have it chipped by the first week in August. As with any road project, weather is always a factor.
This week we are looking to move into the Panama area. We will be working on Buck Creek Road, Rock Jail, and streets in the town. I have been working closely with Mayor Mickey Hale and City Clerk Tyler Seaton to get these projects started. Chief of Police Eddie Seaton has continued to be in the loop to know where we will be working. I appreciate the help of these men and the relationship I have been able to build since becoming commissioner. This project started with late city council member Toney Fout. Toney was not only a Panama City Council member but an employee of District 2. We are glad that this is finally coming to pass.
As with all the districts in Leflore County, we do not have a District Facebook page but if you have a concern about roads in District 2 please call the shop at (918)647-3600 or email us at leflored2@leflorehwy.com, Our hours are Monday through Thursday 6:30 A.M.- 4:30 P.M.
