According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol a double fatality accident occurred August 17, 2022 at approximately 1:49 pm on US-270 and Maxey Cemetery Ln, approximately 4 miles west of Wister in LeFlore County.
According to the report a 2018 Nissan Rogue, driven by Nina Johnson 77, from Wister and her passenger, Sandra Gentry 65, from Wister were both died at scene by Wister EMS.
According to the report, Johnson had yielded for an emergency vehicle on US-270 shoulder and then she attempted to make south bound turn from shoulder on Maxey Cemetery Road and was struck by a 2022 Chevrolet 3500 pick-up, driven by Kenneth Harris, 57, from Red Oak, in the driver side door.
The accident was Investigated by OHP, the Wister Fire Department, LeFlore County EMS, Choctaw Tribal, and the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.
