Dementia Care for Family Members
Caring for a family member with dementia is challenging in many ways, but the strain it can have on a relationship can be especially troubling. Even though your role in the relationship now includes that of caregiver, you still want to maintain the feelings and closeness that you have always had with your loved one. In this workshop, you will explore ways to look at how a person with dementia sees or experiences a situation, so that you can respond in a way that makes sense to him or her. It’s about adding meaning to your family member’s life and creating moments for success. Using the Alzheimer Association’s CARES Approach, you can relate to your relative in a sensitive, thoughtful manner every day. This class is part of our “Community Health and Wellness” series, and there is no charge for participants.
