According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol a Honiobia woman died in a automobile accident that occurred on March 25, 2019 at approximately 3:01 pm on United State Highway 271, approximately two miles west of Poteau in LeFlore County.
According to the report a 2005 Ford Van, driven by Kenneth Duncan, 35, from Tuskahoma was traveling westbound on US 271, ran off the roadway to the left and struck a tree.
Duncan was Transported by Tulsa life flight to Baptist Health in Ft Smith and treated and released with multiple injuries.
A passenger, Martha Potter, 80, from Honobia was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple injuries by the LeFlore County EMS.
Another passenger, Scottina Carlson 22, from Talihina was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center and was treated and released with multiple injuries.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
