Centennial Park in Tulsa observed Memorial Day with a Field of Heroes display.

 

A display at Centennial Park, through Survivor Outreach Services and the Oklahoma and Tulsa VFW Post 57 presented a display of soldier’s empty boots which represented Oklahoma’s fallen service men and women.

Army Chief Warrant Officer 2 Randy L. Billings of Heavener was one of the soldiers who was displayed in the park. His mother, Eva Cooper, went to visit the site and submitted the photos.

This is the first time the Field of Heroes has been in Tulsa.

Billings died December 18, 2013 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

He was killed in an enemy fire helicopter crash along with 5 other soldiers.

On November 12, 2016 a section of US 59, on the Poteau Bypass was named in honor of Billings.
