Fort Smith, AR – The gunshot victim from the 4000 block of Marshall Drive shooting incident on the morning of Thursday, May 5, has been identified as 24-year-old Michael Collier. He is currently listed as being in stable condition after undergoing surgery to treat a gunshot wound to the head. This incident is related to numerous gunshot-related calls that were received early Thursday morning just after midnight. It appears the first incident occurred in the 1100 block of North Albert Pike Avenue then moved to the 3300 block of Grinnell Avenue and ended on Marshall Drive where Collier was shot.
During the course of the investigation, 29-year-old Steve Massey, Jr., was developed as a suspect in the Marshall Drive shooting incident that injured Collier. Detectives located and arrested Massey, Jr., without incident, and transported him to the police department for an interview. At the conclusion of his interview, he was charged with unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle, terroristic act, and battery in the first degree. He was then transported to the Sebastian County Adult Detention Center for booking.
Several firearms and ammunition have already been seized as a result of this investigation. Detectives are working to identify and locate additional subjects involved in the multiple shooting incidents that occurred this morning. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information may be released when available.
