According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Poteau man and a Heavener woman was injured in an accident that occurred on May 26, 2023, at approximately 5:44 pm on US-59 near Ridge Rd., approximately .4 mile south of Poteau, OK in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2020 Dodge 1500, driven by Jacob Haynes, 24, from Poteau was eastbound on Ridge Rd, failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a 1999 Honda Civic, driven by Luciano Vasquez, 23, from Heavener.
Haynes was transported by LeFlore County EMS in stable condition to Mercy Hospital in Ft Smith with head injuries.
Luciano Vasquez was treated and released.
His passenger, Rocio Vasquez was flown by Air Evac in stable condition to Washington Regional in Fayetteville, with trunk internal injuries.
Another passenger, a Juvenile male (name withheld), 9 months old, from Heavener, OK. Treated and released.
The accident was investigated by OHP, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, and Poteau Fire Department.
