My name is Jim Davis and I am a candidate for Poteau City Council, Ward 1, Seat 1.

After graduating from Heavener High School, I attended the University of Central Oklahoma where I was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame in 2015. After graduating from UCO, I coached high school football for 2 years before joining the U.S. Marine Corps. I served 2 tours in Viet Nam as a helicopter pilot and received a Bronze Star and 32 combat air medals. Before retiring I was the commanding officer of a Marine Corps jet attack squadron aboard the Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Nimitz.

Following retirement after serving our country, Myrna, my wife of 61 years, and our 3 daughters relocated back to Poteau. We are proud grandparents of six grandchildren. After moving back to Poteau, I was a commercial airline pilot for 10 years and a flight instructor at Robert S. Kerr Airport in Poteau.

If elected, I would work to develop a city-wide street improvement plan including a much needed four lane highway to and from Ft. Smith which would encourage economic development. Also, I would focus on restoring our neighborhoods, reviving our streets and roads, and continuing to develop and strengthen our community.

I would appreciate your vote for Poteau City Council. Revitalize, Repair, Restore: Strengthen Our Community!
