POTEAU, Okla. – Employees at Kiamichi Tech received awards and recognition for their commitment to career and technical education during Oklahoma Summit, CareerTech’s annual conference, earlier this fall.
Kiamichi Tech is honored to announce these outstanding employees:
· Michael Culwell received the 2020 OkACTE Administrator of the Year Award. Culwell is the Campus Director at the Poteau Campus.
· Michael Walker received the 2020 OkACTE Outstanding New Professional Award. Walker is the Criminal Justice Instructor at the Poteau Campus.
“We are proud that the accomplishments of our team members have been recognized at the state level,” said Kiamichi Tech Superintendent Shelley Free. “The work they do is important to our students and to our District.”
Lorri Carlile with OkACTE said candidates are nominated by their peers for division and state level awards. A selection committee is made up of division awards committee chairs and members who review applications.
The OkACTE organization provides professional and leadership development to membership, communicates and builds relationships with public policy makers and creates partnerships between education and industry. Every Kiamichi Tech employee is a member of this organization.
Kiamichi Technology Centers has played an integral role in southeastern Oklahoma communities since 1968, serving ten full and three partial counties. Kiamichi Tech is one of 29 districts in the Oklahoma CareerTech system with more than 30 career programs. Kiamichi Tech also offers a wide variety of evening and weekend short-term courses as well as certifications in many diverse career fields. Kiamichi Tech has over 20,000 full time and short-term enrollments each year and serves area companies through our Workforce and Economic Development Centers that works with over 400 businesses annually.
