LeFlore County Historical Society Press Release

Submitted by Director Bonnie Prigmore

I’d like to thank everyone for their patience while the LeFlore County Museum at Hotel Lowrey’s roof was being replaced!  It is now finished!  Thank you to the Poteau Police Department and Mayor White for their help with limiting traffic on Witte. We were blessed to have Pam and Steve Holton give a $25,000 matching grant to the museum for the roof. This got the ball rolling and other people began donating. We were able to see this project finished within a year! The businesses and people in this community are wonderful.  Thanks to Pam and Steve Holton,  the LeFlore County Bar Association, Adams Abstract, Wal-Mart, Poteau Women’s League, The Community State Bank, Bonnie Prigmore, First National Bank, Bill Bledsoe, Carolyn Becker, Bob Lowrey, Ford Investments, Sharon & Ted Knight, Pam & Terry Mullins, Arlene LeMaster, John and Martha Samuels, Mary Ann Ford and Mark Cooper.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 to 3.  Tours available upon request, call 918-647-9330 for more information or to find out how to become a member or make a donation.
