The Board of County Commissioners, LeFlore County, State of Oklahoma, met in a Regular Business Meeting on January 23, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. with Chairman Cody Covey presiding. Also present were Vice-Chair Jamie Oliver, Member Vallard Campbell and County Clerk First Deputy Jedd Kirby.
The following action was taken by the board:
(1.) Chairman Cody Covey called meeting to order.
(2.) Motion was made by Cody Covey and seconded by Jamie Oliver to approve the minutes of regular meeting held January 17, 2023. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
(3.) Motion was made by Cody Covey and seconded by Jamie Oliver to approve purchase orders as presented. Motion was approved, all voting yes.

(5.) Monthly Fee Report(s): None presented.
(6.) Motion was made by Cody Covey and seconded by Jamie Oliver to approve Transfer of Appropriations as submitted by the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department. Motion was approved, all voting yes.

(8.) Motion was made by Cody Covey and seconded by Jamie Oliver to approve resignation letter as submitted by Billy Thompson from the Fair Board effective immediately. Motion was approved all voting yes.

(13.) Motion was made by Cody Covey and seconded by Jamie Oliver to approve designation of Kellie Christenberry as First Deputy to the LeFlore County Treasurers’ office. Motion approved, all voting yes.
(14.) The board met with Pat Gillham and Attorney at law Glenn Thompson for further discussion regarding retail spirits license holders being able to sell alcoholic beverages on Sundays. Discussion only.
(15.) No motion made after discussion from Agenda Item No. 14 calling for resolution to hold a special election in LeFlore County approving sale of alcoholic beverages by retail spirits licenses seven (7) days a week. After further discussion, Vice-Chairman Jamie Oliver made a motion to approve a special election called by the board only upon receiving a petition signed by no less than fifteen (15) percent of registered voters from total votes cast in the last county General Election. Motion was approved as follows: Oliver-yes, Campbell-yes, Covey voting no.
(16.) Motion was made by Jamie Oliver and seconded by Cody Covey to approve Dewade Shatswell as member to the LeFlore County Solid Waste Board. Motion was approved, all voting yes.
