OKWNEWS received this letter from Robbie Davis with the Smithsonian Institute’s Museum on Main Street Department. We thought our readers would want to read the letter in its entirety.
Back in 2018, my former colleague Shannon Sullivan worked with you on the Stories: YES program in Poteau. We’re big fans of the work students in Poteau did to develop their exhibition on Choctaw culture. Their interviews and the videos that they created have been featured on our website for several years now. The supernatural stories video with Joe Perry is a particular favorite on the website. We’re going to feature excerpts from the video in an episode of the Smithsonian’s Stories from Main Street podcast next week. Mr. Perry is a great storyteller and our episode talks about how all of us revel in sharing intriguing and mysterious stories at this time of year.
I’m writing to let you know that the episode is coming up soon and we hope that it will be of interest in your community. I’m afraid that I don’t have contact information for Mr. Perry and the students that worked on the project have probably long since graduated, but we would love for the community to know that these stories will be featured. If you are able to get this information to Mr. Perry or any of the students, could you please let them know?
The podcast is available at https://storiesfrommainstreet.libsyn.com/ and on all of the major podcast platforms. We’re excited to be able to share the great work that you all did on a national platform.
Best wishes,
Robbie Davis
