Love Fostering Hope of Shady Point officially joined the Poteau Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting and open house today.
Love Fostering Hope (LFH) is a faith-based organization that offers a safe and loving place to live for mothers and their children that are in recovery from drugs or alcohol, in abusive situations, homeless or that are being released from jail.
LFH helps those that are alcoholics, addicts and domestic abuse victims. Live-in house managers serve as mentors and provide a good balance between structure and freedom.
LFH offers support with spiritual growth, recovery structure, relapse prevention, positive parenting, family reunification, GED classes, health and wellness, life skills and accountability while developing a sober and healthy lifestyle.
Numerous volunteers are utilized for these programs offered for residents.
Participants of Love Fostering Hope live virtually normal lives. Love Fostering Hope feels like a home, not an institution.
"Love Fostering Hope is so much more than a "house" where women live and stay sober. They are in small groups and Bible study throughout the day. They attend church regularly and Covenant Recovery weekly along with any other court-ordered classes.," said Marie Clem, founder of LFH. "Our goal is to prepare our residents to succeed in life by providing a strong foundation in Christ and by helping them find employment and housing after they graduate from the program."
