Wel,l it was a perfect weekend for music and food last Fri. and Sat. in LeFlore Co. I got to hear music from “Shady Oak Tribadours” and “Rearvue Mirror” at The Coffee Cup. Even got to play with them for the sound check. Thanks for the invite. Poteau’s First Friday Cruise Night was another good one. And thanks for the compliance of all the drivers in following the No-Burnout ordinance. Well, mostly all. Can’t wait for the next one. Thanks to Tammie Johnson and crew for hosting this Parking lot concert. The Steel Horse Rally in Ft. Smith was another great event and featured some of LeFlore County’s best bands.
Then, The Monroe Old Timers Day Celebration last Sat. was full of music and food. 140 had BBQ at the Alumni Banquet and over 100 munched on a deeeelicious Fish dinner while listening to Live Music. Too many pickers to name here but watch for my fb post. I got to play a lil’ and it was an honor to make music and memories with all these Long time friends. Weather was perfect but warm. I miss the Big Tent for the folks to set and visit and listen to the singing. I hope that the Tent will be providing shade for us next year. Thanks to all the folks that put this event on. All your hard work is greatly appreciated. Here’s looking forward to 2024 Old Timers Day.
The weather may be somewhat of a factor this weekend, so keep your eye to the sky. I miss the Tulsa weatherman, Don Woods and Gusty, when the Springtime storm season arrives here in Eastern Oklahoma. Slight chance of showers for the next few day so keep an umbrella next to your lawn chair and coolers for these events.
Inside at Dawn’s Diner in Red Oak, “Earl Hearon and the Sound of Country” will play on Friday 12th. One of the best Country singers around. The band plays your favorite dance songs. Then, on Sat. 13th, “Make It a Double” takes the stage and starts the two-stepping. Connie and Dave Abbott make beautiful music, singing Country classics. Both nites the music starts at 6 pm.
“The Stagemasters” will be at Neumeier’s Rib Room on Garrison Avenue on Friday 12th. Always a good show. Make plans to be there. Music starts at 7 pm. “Red Dirt Duo” will play for the dancers at the Ft. Smith Activity Center on Friday 12th. It all starts at 7 pm. No dance there Sat. this week. “Movin’ On” will be working hard and playing your favorites at the Farewell Party bar on Friday. Music from 8 pm til Midnite. Then, at La Huertas on Sat 13th from 6:30 til 9:30 pm or so. Crocky’s Cafe in Hackett, Ark has a full weekend planned ! Friday 12 th, “The Tones”, Denise Messamore and Victoria Bragg, play bluegrass to blues, jazz to country. Their show is entertaining and will keep ya tapping your foot and enjoying their subtle sense of humor. They have a good time playing and they pass it on to the audience. On Sat. 13th, “59 South” does a good job playing Country and Rock Classics while you enjoy the great food. Randy Fennell and Ben Brand play as a duo this time. The first Crawdad boil at Crocky’s is planned for May 20th and “Even Keel” will be the entertainment. Make Plans.
Speaking of “Even Keel”, they play their music with the Island Feel at The Mighty Crab on Rodgers Ave. next Wed. the 17th. This band is a perfect fit for the MIghty Crab. Music starts at 6pm. “Even Keel” will be back on Sat. June 3rd, too.
“Shady Oak Tribadours” bring their good timing sounds back to Downtown Poteau at the Rough Day Brewing Company. Scot Francis, Larry Taylor, Joel Billy and Dennis Dooley are getting to be a favorite here. Custom brews are the featured beverages. Music will start at 6 pm.
“Music on Main” in Mena Ark. will start a series of Live Music this Summer on Sat. 13th. The stage and food trucks will be set up on South Mena St. and music starts at 6 pm. “Cullyn Corley” will be the special guest and opens for “The Tailgate Poets”. It’s fun for the whole family.
This is a good place to stop even tho it ain’t all that I have to say.
