A nation-wide contest was hosted by School Choices.org. in January. The Talihina Chamber of Commerce received the contest information and passed it on to Ms. Rose at Albion Schools. Students were prompted to write or draw a poster indicating why they love their school. The Organization, SchoolChoices.org was created to help students from all walks of life make intelligent choices about their educational journey. It’s about not only choosing a school, but choosing a life path that will still make sense 4 years, 10 years, 20 years down the road. Imprinting early and continuing the quest throughout the years will give a likelihood of the student’s goals to continue with a College mind set.
Ms. Rose at the Albion School implemented this with her 1st and 2nd grade combination class. The whole class participated and received Donut Depot donuts as a thank you from the Chamber Of Commerce. The winner for the classroom competition in Ms. Roses class was Maci Dale for 1st grade and Nathan Stepp for the 2nd grade.
Next January, consider having your classroom or homeschooled children get involved. Check out the web sight for all the options they offer.
