PANAMA, OK – On August 16, 2026, the Federal Bureau of Investigation requested the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to investigate an officer-involved shooting.
At around 2:10 a.m., the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office conducted a field sobriety test on a driver near 240th Avenue and Arnold Drive in Panama, Oklahoma.
While deputies were conducting the field sobriety test on the adult male driver, he ran towards his vehicle and retrieved a firearm from inside. The suspect then discharged the firearm, resulting in an officer-involved shooting.
The suspect was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital in stable condition. There were no other injuries during the shooting.
This is still an ongoing investigation at this time. Once the OSBI completes their investigation, they will provide their report to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma for review.
