I’ll have to whine and grumble fast. It’s a good problem tho. There’s so much Live Music this week that I won’t have a chance for my usual flowery tirades that seem to go on forever and don’t find rhyme or reason. Kinda like this is so far. “So let’s git to it”- Wyatt Earp(Kevin or Kurt?).
Well, the Press Pass got me into two events last Sat. Got to hear three good bands at Oktobefest- “The Stagemasters”, “Constant Battle” and “Hoodookattz”. Great lineup this year- thanks to Dale Fraze Sr. and all the sponsors, venders, fans of LIve Music and cheers to the beerlovers. It was well organized and security was pleasant but firm. Thanks to the Poteau Police Sept. Here’s looking to next year.
“The Shady Oak Tribadours” and Warehouse Willie’s hosted the very first October Feast. Awesome music and awesomer vittlies. Thanks to both. I had on my “I’m a Tribby” T-shirt and got to Feast with good friends , too many to mention. Now , I see why this band is so popular in the area. Personality mixed with great song selection, Getting the crowd involved with sing-a-longs even with our mouths full, It’s a combination of “when the band has fun, it’s contagious!
Nice touch that added Reggie Wells(Snake Farm) and Billy Hoffman(Miami, My Amie) to the show. Watch here for info of “Shady Oak Tribadours” next shows. And I got a Scot Hug, whether I wanted one or not.
Live Music this week(in no particular order)- La Heurtas/Poteau has added Live Music to the menu. Thanks Jose. He said,”We LOVE having good music on the patio. And we have really loved all our happy customer pictures that we have seen on fb! We are going to have live music 2-3 days a week the rest of the month of October and starting on November’s schedule already.” This week starts on Tues. 17th will feature singer/songwriter James Taylor from the Sallisaw area. James has been a favorite at the CC for years and after a break, will be singing his songs again. Glad he is back in Poteau. Then, Thursday 19th, MJ and the Geezers! Great harmony, cool arrangements, multi-instrumentilist, this trio brings a show that is perfect for the place.
My favorite band, Even Keel, will host a “Jimmy Buffett Tribute”on Sat. 21st at the 906 Lounge, Ft. Smith. They have several Buffett tunes in their regular show but this will feature mostly Buffett music. It’s from 8-Midnite. How cool is it to honor such a talented singer/songwriter/recording artist as Jimmy Buffett. Beach attire is appropriate. R.I.P. Jimmy!
Poteau Balloon Fest is Friday 20th and Sat 21st. This Family event is one of the biggest in the State. Balloons, bulls, mud races, food, carnival,and more both days. As always, there will be Live Music again on Sat 21st from 1pm til 6pm. Mac Moad and Silent Thunder productions will provide the Sound and lineup. Five bands this year. At 1pm, Country/Rock Trio, “Movin’ On”- at 2pm, rockers “Hoodookattz”, 3pm, “Live Wire ft/Felisha McKenzie”- 4pm, “Tall Cotton” R&R, and at 5pm, Country singer “J.B. Lloyd. Great linup, make plans to catch some Live Music. Lett’em know that you appreciate it in the Festival Schedule.
“Oklahoma Moon” will play at Neumeier’s Rib Room on Friday 20th. Another longtime supporter of Live Music, Neumeier’s has a great meal and always awesome music. This Friday is no exception. “Oklahoma Moon” has been a favorite at the Rib Room. Great music but I feel the restaurant loses a lil’ on trying to feed this band, ‘specially Ricky Ward. Music starts at 6pm.
Dawn’s Diner/Red Oak has awesome grub and a dancehall, too. This weekend, starting at 6pm, “Oklahoma’s 59 South” will provide country music for the dancers on Friday 20th- Sat. 21st, it will be “Big Marty and the Dirty Dogs” playing their Classic Country and Rock. Come on down to Dawn’s.
“Shady Oak Tribadours” will be a lil’ West of here at The Dry County Bar. Pics show that this is the place to be in Downtown Wilburton. This band is a perfect fit for the place. Great Coastal and Western music, all your favorites. So cut a trail to Dry County this weekend.
Muldrow City Limits has “The Libby Starkes Band” this Sat 21st for the hoedown. Libby always draws a big crowd this close to home. She is a favorite here. So grab yer pardner and get there early. Music starts at 7pm.
Crocky’s Cafe/Hackett,Ark. as music this weekend as well as great food. Friday 20th, “Mike MG and the Quiet Storm Linzini” has a show. Fine dinner music, too. Then, Sat.21st, “Will Mendenhall” brings his music to the stage.
Great lineup this week. Remember, October weather is short sleeves at noon- Jackets at sundown. So be prepared. Plenty to do and listen and eat and ride and watch. Don’t tell me that you’re bored, there’s nothing to do. Or that ya didn’t know bout it!
