Poteau Ok: The Poteau Veterans Banner Project was originally launched in August of 2019.

The count began at only sixteen banners. As of this week the project has grown to forty-nine banners that will line Main Street and Broadway North and South of the Courthouse stoplight. The banners are much larger than what Poteau Chamber has previously purchased for Historic Downtown. The banners are 30X60 inches and in full color. They proudly display the Veteran’s name, rank, and military service branch. This project has helped to kick start the beginning of Banners on Broadway with the banners displayed this summer “Where People Care” provided by Poteau Balloon Fest.

When its time to remove the Veterans Banners the City of Poteau and Poteau Chamber has other festive banners for the holidays. “With any project Poteau Chamber launches this is one that has received the most funding not only from the city, the chamber, or businesses but also private individuals.

The flags that fly add so much and with the Veteran’s Banners it will show who we are, what we stand for, and who we proudly honor. Our Veteran’s that have served sacrificed and who are still serving.

This is just an extension of the Veteran’s Parade that celebrates 14 years this coming Saturday, November 7th @ 10:00 a.m.”, states Karen Wages, CEO.

Banners can still be purchased and will be in the next display on Memorial Day.

The total cost is $200.00.

Required information needed, a photo of the veteran, rank, and service.
