Poteau Man charged with 1st Degree Rape and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon Featured

On October 20, 2020 at approximately 10:50 pm, Poteau Police Officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 100 block of Windham Street in the city limits of Poteau on a call of an assault.
On arrival, Officers made contact with a 30 year old female victim who had several wounds on her neck and torso. 

 

The victim told the Officers that a neighbor (Ricky Lloyd Amos Jr., 30, of Poteau) had come to her apartment and asked to use her bathroom. The victim stated that after she allowed Amos to enter the apartment, he stabbed and slashed her with a knife multiple times and sexually assaulted her.


The victim was transported by ambulance to EOMC and then transferred to a Tulsa area hospital for treatment of her injuries.


Officers located Amos hiding behind the apartment complex and took him into custody.

 

Amos was booked into the LeFlore County Detention Center on charges of 1st Degree Rape and Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.


Poteau Police Department Investigators were called out to work the crime scene and are continuing investigation into aspects of the case.
