Press Release
(POTEAU, OKLAHOMA) – Poteau Chamber asks that everyone help support our community by supporting our small businesses this Holiday Shopping Season.
Shop Small, Shop Local the Nationwide movement is something we should do more than two days out of the year. When we shop at our local retail business everyday or when we can. We help communities thrive, keeping store fronts looking vibrant and the streets alive and inviting for those that visit the area year around. By shopping or dinning at the many small business locations in our City and County, you are showing support for the businesses in your neighborhood and the community you call home. Your dollars spent comes back around in lots of different ways. Your dollars support the City of Poteau. The City relies on funding received from sales tax dollars generated. The dollars fund your Police and Fire Departments that helps keep us safe and responds in our time of need.
The tax dollars fund our parks, sports complexes and skateparks. Those small businesses you support uses dollars to sponsor sports teams, boys & girls organizations, humane society, non-profits, Chamber events and other events in the city and county areas, and more to numerous to mention. Small retailers return 52% back into the local economy.
“The small businesses are the heart of the community. This holiday season put your dollars where your heart is shopping local and shopping small. “States Karen Wages, CEO.”
