OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Rick West, R-Heavener, recently welcomed members of Leadership LeFlore County to the State Capitol. He gave them a tour of the Capitol and recognized them on the House floor.
“This is just a great group of people who are interested making life better for everyone who lives in LeFlore County,” West said. “It was great to get to show them around the Capitol and tell them a little bit about how their state government works.”
Members of the class of 2023 are Michael Bailey, Carolyn Cooper, Ethan Firestine, Taylor Green, Aaron Hamby, Emily Heavener, Jenna Howe, Blake McGee, April Martin, Morgan Pickel, Destini Ramirez, Rosa Ramirez, Hunter Sisemore, Bayli Soriano and Katie Stubbs.
Karen Wages, CEO of the Poteau Chamber of Commerce, said this class is very energetic and members are so attentive and engaged. She’s brought other classes to the Capitol in the past and said she’s enjoyed every trip each legislative session.
Leadership LeFlore County is a countywide leadership program designed to be a series of issue-oriented forums and learning experiences, which are based on the belief that knowledge is a key element and prime motivator of a successful leader. Applicants are sought from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and geographical locations in LeFlore County and the surrounding areas.
The course consists of seven session, and participants help throughout the county.
Rick West serves District 3 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes part of LeFlore County.
