Rodney Derryberry Announces Candidacy for Sheriff Featured

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my Republican candidacy for the upcoming 2020 Leflore County Sheriff Election.

 

I have over twenty-seven years in Law Enforcement and Military Service.

 

I worked as an entry level patrolman, a Deputy Sheriff, Assistant Chief of Police, a Choctaw Nation Drug Task Force Agent/Patrolman, and currently eighteen years for the District Sixteen Drug and Violent Crime Task Force as a State Agent and numerous years as Supervising Agent. I strive to constantly maintain a good working relationship with numerous local, county and state law enforcement agencies.

 

I have extensive experience in Case Preparation, Courtroom Testimony, and Office/Evidence Management. I have seventeen years of military service with the US Army/Reserves and Oklahoma Army National Guard as an Infantryman. I have performed duties in multiple levels of Law Enforcement as a Patrolman, Assistant Chief of Police, and Supervising State Narcotic/Criminal Investigator. I have over seventeen hundred hours of law enforcement training including Oklahoma Peace Officer Certification, Advance Law Enforcement Certification, Graduate of Oklahoma Criminal Investigation Academy, Graduate of DEA Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Course, Cleet Basic Police Instructor Course, Crimes against children/Drug/Abuse, Graduate of Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs course, OLETS Certified, SCBA Certified Clan Labs, NES, Site Safety Officer, NES and numerous other certifications/training courses. In the military as a Staff Sargent I have the following training: Basic Infantry Training, Advanced Infantry Training, Primary Leadership Development Course, Drill Sargent Academy, and numerous other military training courses. My awards include Combat Infantryman Badge, Drill Sergeant Badge, Army Commendation Medal 4th, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Nato Medal, MultiNational Force and Observers Medal and numerous others.

 

My deployments have been as a MultiNational Force and Observer in Egypt, Deployed to Louisiana for Hurricane Katrina and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

 

My wife of 16 years, April, and I have three children and live in Poteau.

My family has lived in LeFlore County for generations and support me in my decision to run.

I look forward to reaching out to people and, God willing, will try to meet with as many people as possible between now and the June 2020 Leflore County Sheriff Election to ask for your support and vote.
