According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, several people were injured in an automobile and cow accident that occurred at 4:55 am on March 22, 2019, on State Highway 112, just north of Cameron in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2007 Chevrolet Pickup driven by Billy Self, 58 of Cameron was traveling northbound and a 2013 Chrysler driven by Vanita Bowling 44, of Muldrow was traveling southbound.
Self struck a cow causing the cow to cross into the southbound lane and was struck Bowling, which caused Bowling’s vehicle to become disabled in the northbound lane and then was struck by 2016 Ford driven by Martha Self, 57 of Cameron.
Billy Self was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith AR and was treated and released for back, leg, neck, and head injuries.
Bowling was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A 7-year-old passenger with Boling was transported by Air Evac from the scene to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, then transferred to Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was listed in serious but stable condition with multiple injuries. A 17-year-old passenger in Boling’s vehicle was not injured.
Another passenger in Boling’s Chrysler, Samantha Bowling, 18 of Muldrow, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Martha Self, the driver of the 2016 Ford was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Sparks Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR and was treated and released for multiple injuries.
