According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol an injury accident occurred on July 25, 2023 at approximately 3:50 pm on Knot Hole RD approximately .2 of a mile north of Caughron Road, and approximately 4 miles north of Poteau, OK in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2001 Nissan Frontier PK driven by Denver Brown, 59, of Cameron was southbound on Knot Hole Road and a 2014 Dodge Charger driven by Rebecca Hurst, 21, of Cameron was traveling Northbound on Know Hole Road. When Brown failed to remain to the right and entered the northbound traffic striking Hurst head-on.
Brown was pinned in the vehicle for approximately 15 minutes before being freed by Hogeye Fire Department using hurst tool.
Brown was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital in FT. Smith and was admitted in stable condition with a leg injury.
His Passengers: Melba Brown, 84, of Cameron, was transported by Life Flight to ST. John Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Admitted in stable condition with head injury. Caleb Kane 24, of Cameron was transported by LeFlore County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith and was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal.
Hurst, the driver of the Dodge Charger, and her three passenger were treated at the scene.
The accident was investigated by OHP, the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department, LeFlore County EMS and Hogeye Fire Department.
