Rep. Eddy Dempsey and Elizabeth Polk
OKLAHOMA CITY – Elizabeth Polk, a senior from Smithville High School, recently served as a page for Rep. Eddy Dempsey, R-Valliant, during the sixth week of the 60th Legislature.
“It was great having Elizabeth at the Capitol this week,” Dempsey said. “She’s a hardworking and driven young woman, and I’m confident she has a bright future ahead of her. I have no doubt she’ll make a big impact in whatever path she chooses.”
Polk has excelled academically, earning a spot on the Honor Roll, being named Student of the Quarter and ranking second in her class.
In addition to her academic success, Polk is involved in several extracurricular activities. She is a member of FFA and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and plays on both the basketball and softball teams at Smithville High School.
Polk plans to attend Carl Albert State College, where she intends to major in allied health. Her goal is to become a nurse practitioner.
“Elizabeth’s dedication to her education and her drive to help others are truly inspiring,” Dempsey said. “She’s already accomplished so much, and I’m excited to see what she achieves in the future.”
Dempsey, a Republican, represents House District 1 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives, which includes parts of McCurtain and Le Flore counties. He is committed to encouraging and supporting young leaders across the state.
The House High School Page Program provides juniors and seniors the opportunity to participate in the legislative process. Pages serve for one week, Monday through Thursday, assisting representatives and House staff in the House chamber during daily sessions and participating in the House Page Mock Legislature.
The first session of the 60th Legislature began on Feb. 3.
