Ardmore man drowns on Lake Murray Featured

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a drowning incident occurred on September 13, 2017 at approximately 6:48pm at the Martin's Landing boat ramp area of Lake Murray, approximately 6.5 miles south of Ardmore, OK in Carter County.


According to the report, Darnell J. Taylor 33, of Ardmore, was swimming at the boat ramp area of Martin's Landing at Lake Murray and for some unknown reason, Taylor went under and did not resurface.

His family then yelled for help and a bystander entered the water and pulled him from approximately 6 feet of water, 25 feet northwest of the water's edge of the boat ramp.

CPR was administered by bystanders until Carter County EMS arrived on scene.


Taylor was transported by Carter County EMS to Mercy Hospital in Ardmore and was. pronounced deceased by Dr. Andrew Eaton at Mercy Hospital.


The accident was investigated by Trooper Casey Hall of the Marine Enforcement Division, Lake Murray State Park Rangers, Carter County EMS, and Dickson Fire Department.
