This afternoon, OHP reported a drowning in Muskogee County. The 73-year-old victim was Glenn Newburn of Red Oak. The OHP report states that Mr. Newburn and another person were walking along the bank of the Arkansas River near 124th Street in Taft, Oklahoma, in calf deep water yesterday morning.
Mr. Newburn stepped off a sand bar in approximately 3.5 feet deep of moving water. He went under and never resurfaced. His body was recovered this morning about 10:30 approximately a half mile east of where he went in.
