Things have definitely picked up as the Legislature approaches our bill submission deadline.
I had a very informative meeting with the Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association this past week as they presented their case for some franchise law changes. As I visited with several local auto dealers, I learned of one subject that causes a lot of ire: electric vehicles. These are being pushed on our dealers as part of the national movement to force these impractical vehicles on the public as soon as possible. I believe the day may come when EVs have a place, but I think we need to slow down this process and iron out the problems before they are forced upon the buying public. I don’t believe our electric companies have the ability to charge all these EV’s that are being promoted.
I also recently attended a broadband public input meeting hosted by the Oklahoma Broadband Office. They offered a lot of hope that broadband is coming to rural Oklahoma in the next few years. I pointed out that approximately ten years ago fiber was laid across the state but never connected to residences. They assure me their goal is to complete this just in laying the “last mile” to our homes. I’m hopeful they will accomplish their goal.
This weekend is “Fall Festival” time at Robber’s Cave State Park. It is unreal to me that what started as a simple idea in an effort to bring people out to our community has grown to what it is today. The antique car show is probably one of the better shows in Oklahoma with approximately 500 entries. Arts and crafts are everywhere along with almost any food item you would care to try. I encourage everyone to visit.
