Carl Albert State College is celebrating 172 concurrent graduates this spring. A total of 30 area high schools in the surrounding area participate in the concurrent education program provided by Carl Albert. Four students earned associate’s degrees along with their high school diplomas.

“Concurrent enrollment is an invaluable opportunity for high school students looking to get a head start on their college education,” said Dr. Marc Willis, VP of Academic Affairs. “The program enables students to take college-level courses and earn both high school and college credits at the same time, allowing them to meet their academic goals faster.”

Not only do concurrent enrollment courses save time, they also save money. Since students pay a reduced tuition fee, they can save thousands of dollars while still receiving the same quality education as traditional college courses. Many high schools cover the cost of concurrent enrollment for their students. Additionally, concurrent enrollment gives students an advantage when entering college by giving them the skills and knowledge necessary to begin their higher education journey with confidence. With the ability to complete college credits in a more manageable timeline and for less money, concurrent enrollment is an excellent way for students to make the most of their education.

Furthermore, concurrent enrollment provides an opportunity for high school students to gain meaningful insight into the college experience while still in their comfort zone.

Students from the following schools participate in Carl Albert’s Concurrent program: Arkoma, Battiest, Cameron, Central, Clayton, Heavener, Howe, Keota, Leflore, McAlester, McCurtain, Muldrow, Panama, Pocola, Poteau, Red Oak,Roland, Sallisaw, Smithville, Spiro, Stigler, Stilwell, Stuart, Subiaco Academy, Talihina, Vian, Watts, Westville, Whitesboro, and Wister.
