HOUSTON. [February 1, 2018]– Diamond Pipeline LLC, a joint venture between Plains All American Pipeline and Valero, donated $1 million to 130 first responder organizations in 2017, supplementing the training and equipment resources of fire, police and EMS responders along the pipeline route.

“We understand the critical role first responders serve in supporting U.S. infrastructure like the Diamond Pipeline,” said Brandon Smith of Plains All American. “With the Diamond Pipeline First Responder Grant Program, responders received additional training and equipment to respond safely to the hazards they may encounter in the service of their community.”

The average grant value was between $7,000-$10,000, and, in some cases, represent as much as 100 percent of the receiving departments’ annual budgets. All qualifying organizations that applied received financial or in-kind assistance.

“As a volunteer fire department it can be hard for us to get funding for new equipment,” said Kevin Hoffman, chief, Latham - Dog Creek Fire Department in LeFlore County, Oklahoma. “The Diamond first responder grant allowed us to purchase new breathing equipment for our firefighters in the event of an emergency.”

“Our priority is keeping our community safe,” said Dale Seiter, president, White Bluff-Rye Hill Volunteer Fire Department in Sebastian County, Arkansas. “The Diamond Pipeline First Responder Grant allows us to purchase much-needed equipment that will help our firefighters achieve that goal.”

The Diamond Pipeline commenced operations in December 2017 and now delivers crude oil from the Cushing, Okla. storage complex to the Valero Memphis Refinery, which produces gasoline, diesel and jet fuel for residents in Arkansas and several other states in the region.

Spanning 22 counties in three states, more than 2,200 individuals helped construct the Diamond Pipeline. The Diamond Pipeline now employs approximately 15 full-time employees.

The Diamond Pipeline has officially finished construction in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

Over the course of the year, the pipeline has donated $1 Million to first responders across Oklahoma and Arkansas.
