Early morning fatality near Spiro Featured

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a fatal accident occurred on October 24, 2018 at approximately 12:46am on United States Highway 59, approximately 1.5 miles west of Spiro, OK in LeFlore County.


According to the report, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was eastbound on US59 when it went left of center and struck a 2014 GMC Sierra driven by Bethany Snell, 26, of Spiro head on. The GMC then departed the roadway to the right, went through a ditch and came to rest upright. Snell was pinned in her vehicle.


The name of the driver of the Chevy Silverado has been withheld pending investigation.


The Chevy truck was blocking the roadway and caught fire, according to the report. 


Snell was transported by Tulsa Life Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa and was admitted in stable condition with leg, arm, and trunk internal injuries.


The accident is still under investigation.


OHP, LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office, LeFlore County EMS, Tulsa Life Flight, Spiro FD, Bokoshe Fire Department, and Panama Fire Department were on the scene.
