NORMAN, OKLA. – Oklahoma City attorney Eric King will be honored with the Eugene Kuntz Award from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, Nov. 10 at the 2023 Eugene Kuntz Conference on Natural Resources Law and Policy, the preeminent professional gathering of experts on oil and gas law in the nation.

King will be recognized for his distinguished career in the energy industry and his many contributions to oil and gas law. He has been a frequent lecturer on title examination, Oklahoma Corporation Commission issues, underground gas storage, rights-of-way and easements including condemnation, and other oil and gas topics at Continuing Legal Education courses conducted by the Oklahoma Bar Association.

“OU Law is honored to present this esteemed award to someone who mirrors the legacy that Dean Eugene Kuntz established: exemplary ethical standards and academic excellence,” said OU Law Dean Katheleen Guzman. “Eric King is a highly accomplished attorney, author, lecturer and instructor who is well respected by his peers and has demonstrated an extraordinary level of dedication to energy and natural resources law that enriches our programs and our community in many ways.”

A 1970 graduate of Oklahoma Christian College, King went on to receive his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1976. He is a shareholder with the Fellers Snider Law Firm in Oklahoma City following 25 years as a shareholder and past executive board member with GableGotwals.

His current practice includes representation of exploration companies before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Oil and Gas Conservation Division, in matters of oil and gas development, pollution abatement, pipeline spill remediation, saltwater disposal, water recycling facilities, gas gathering, and gas storage. His practice also includes representation of companies before the Oklahoma Corporation Commission, Public Utilities Division, including the PSO “Windcatcher” project, ratemaking cases and telecom matters.

The Kuntz Award is named for former OU Law dean and noted oil and gas professor Eugene Kuntz and is presented annually in conjunction with the Eugene Kuntz Conference on Natural Resources Law and Policy, one of the largest conferences in the nation specifically focusing on oil and gas law. The conference is hosted by the OU College of Law and the Energy and Natural Resources Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association.
