According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Wister man has died from a one vehicle accident that occurred on March 16, 2020 at approximately 9pm on United States Highway 271, approximately one mile north of Leflore Road in LeFlore County.
According to the report, a 2016 Ford pickup, driven by James Caughern 56, from Wister, was southbound on US271, failed to negotiate curve, and ran off the roadway to the right striking a fence and tree. The vehicle overturned approximately two times before coming to rest on its top, ejecting Caughern approximately 30 feet from point of rest.
Caughern was pronounced dead at the scene by LeFlore County EMS.
The accident was investigated by OHP, Assisted by the LeFlore County Sheriff’s Department, the Wister Fire Department and Wister police Department..
