Fatality Collision - Delaware County Featured

At 12:03 am on April 22, 2017, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol were dispatched to a one vehicle accident that occurred on State Highway 20.


The accident was ½ a mile west of County Road 636, approximately 2 miles east of Jay in Delaware County.


Jones was traveling westbound on SH 20 and for some unknown reason, the vehicle departed the roadway to the right, struck a culvert, and overturned a total of two times.


Jones was ejected from the passenger side window and the vehicle came to rest upright on top of the driver.


He was pinned for approximately 20 minutes and was freed by Jay First Responders.


According to the report, a 1964 Plymouth Barracuda, driven by David Allen Jones, 61, of Eucha, Oklahoma was transported by Jay EMS to Grove Integris Hospital, Grove, OK. He expired at the hospital while being treated for massive injuries.


The accident was investigated by OHP, Jay Fire Department, Jay EMS, and Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.
