According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a fatality collision occurred on June 4, 2022 at approximately 2:44am on State Highway 43, approximately 3 miles north and 2.5 miles west of Clayton, OK, in Pushmataha County.

According to the report, a 1997 Honda Civic driven Ethan G. Broome age 19, of Talihina, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The report states that the Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on State Highway 43, overcorrected and crossed center line, departed roadway right, rolled 2 ¼ times and struck an electric pole. The electric pole landed on vehicle and initiated a fire inside the vehicle.

Condition of Driver: Under investigation

Cause of collision: Speed greater than reasonable and proper

Seatbelts: Under investigation

Airbags: Under investigation

Weather: Clear

Roadway: 2-lane, undivided asphalt

The driver was extricated by HURST tool.

The accident was Investigated OHP, Clayton Fire Department, Choctaw Nation Tribal Police, Pushmataha County Sheriff’s Department, Clayton Police Department and Antlers EMS.
