OKLAHOMA CITY – Rep. Jim Grego, R-Wilburton, recently recognized Wilburton FFA’s state and national champion livestock evaluation team on the floor of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

The team is led by Advisor Brandon Spears. Members are Laney McAlester, Caleb Brunson, Denver Patzack, and Zoey Powell.

“This team proved outstanding in their livestock judging and individual knowledge,” Grego said. “It was an honor to recognize them on the House floor and to celebrate their incredible accomplishments. I always love seeing young people succeed at this level, particularly in something so vital to our rural Oklahoma way of life.”

The State FFA Livestock Evaluation Contest consisted of 98 FFA teams from across the state with 364 individual members.

Wilburton FFA was selected to represent the state at the National Livestock Judging Contest held last fall in Indianapolis at the National FFA Convention.

The team won three of the five national division titles becoming national champions in Oral Reasons, Beef Cattle Division and Team Questions.

Individually, Caleb Brunson was the fifth High Individual Overall in the Nation and sixth Overall in the Nation in Oral Reasons.

Jim Grego serves District 17 in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. His district includes Latimer County and part and Pittsburg County.
