According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, on January 21, 2018 at approximately 6:45am, a Hodgen woman with struck by a train, 9.7 east and 8.7 south of Hodgen on rail road tracks in LeFlore County.


According to the report, four engine Kansas City Southern Railway train with 125 freight cars engineered by Robert Mathews 42, of Shreveport, LA., and Jonathan Sherman 47,also from of Shreveport, were traveling northbound on the rail road tracks when they struck, pedestrian Dovie Herring, 53, of Hodgen.

Herring was unable to completely clear the railroad tracks before being struck by the train.

She was transported by Tulsa Life Flight to St. John Hospital in Tulsa and was listed in critical condition with leg, arm and trunk internal injuries.


The accident was investigated by OHP, the LeFlore County Sheriff’s office, LeFlore County EMS, and the Haw Creek Fire Dept.
