(STILLWATER, Okla., Aug. 20, 2024) — A transformational $1.08 million gift from Love’s Travel Stops has established a new scholarship program at Oklahoma State University in honor of the company’s late founder, Tom Love.

The Tom Love Scholars Program will award scholarships to 20 students annually over the next four years. The program continues a strong partnership between the OSU and Love’s, which is also the sponsor for this year’s Homecoming celebration.

“My dad was a firm believer that education is the best investment you can make for the future. The Tom Love Scholars Program at Oklahoma State University aims to carry on his legacy by empowering the next generation of leaders,” said Jenny Love Meyer, chief culture officer at Love’s.

In addition to financial aid, Tom Love Scholars will receive a number of valuable networking and professional development opportunities through Love’s. These include a mentorship pairing with a Love’s employee, a networking event at Love’s headquarters in Oklahoma City, and at least one on-campus activity with Love’s employees each semester.

Sophomores, juniors and seniors within the Spears School of Business can apply for the program. Scholars must maintain good academic standing as well as excel outside of the classroom, demonstrating initiative through involvement on campus.

“We are forever grateful to Love’s for this transformational investment in the next generation,” OSU Foundation President Blaire Atkinson said. “This program will allow our students to develop an invaluable connection with one of Oklahoma’s top companies, which will enrich their student experience and empower them in their future careers. We extend our deepest gratitude to Love’s for their partnership in shaping the future leaders of our communities.”

Love’s is launching a similar initiative to assist students at the University of Oklahoma.

The first cohort of Tom Love Scholars at OSU will be honored at the Spears Business scholarship banquet on Aug. 25.
