According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol a drowning incident occurred at approximately 8:05pm on May 23, 2018 on Lake Eufaula in Pittsburg County.
According to the report, James Cosper, 66, of McAlester was loading his boat at the boat ramp and the boat drifted away.
Cosper ran down the shore line to a dock and jumped off of the dock, he began to swim towards his boat and began to struggle.
A witness saw Cosper go under water and never resurface.
His body was located approximately 25 yards north of the shore line in 9.5 feet of water by a drag bar.
The accident was investigated by the Marine Enforcement Division, the Pittsburg County Swift Water Team, Pittsburg County Sheriff’s office and the Pittsburg County Emergency Management.
