With historic rainfall since winter 2018 through the spring, many roads are closed, including some construction projects which are identified below. As water levels subside, ODOT and the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority will assess existing pavement conditions for needed repairs and also construction timetables for further changes and updates.
Drivers are encouraged to be prepared and partner with these agencies as they address these needs and possible delays. ODOT wants drivers to be prepared for more inconvenience and travel impacts this summer.

The following construction projects will impact travel on major highways and interstates Friday, May 24 through Monday, May 27.

Statewide
I-35 narrowed near Paoli, Garvin Co.
I-35 is narrowed to one lane in each direction two miles north of SH-145 (mm 81) near Paoli for bridge rehabilitation. Drivers can expect significant delays and congestion in this area and should plan extra travel time or use an alternate route.
I-40 service road closed near Sayre, Beckham Co.
The south I-40 service road (old Route 66) is closed one mile west of US-283 (mm 19) near Sayre due to flooding damage.
I-40 narrowed between Canute and Foss, Washita Co.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between one mile west of Canute (mm 45) and SH-44 near Foss (mm 53) for bridge repair, resurfacing and cable barrier installation.
I-40 frontage road closed near Weatherford, Custer Co.
The north I-40 frontage road (old Route 66) is closed one mile west of the Caddo County line (mm 85) near Weatherford for bridge replacement.
I-40, US-64 narrowed in Sallisaw, Sequoyah Co.
I-40 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between US-64 (mm 311) and US-59 (mm 308) in Sallisaw for bridge and interchange reconstruction. US-64 is also narrowed to one lane in each direction at I-40.
US-69 narrowed near Eufaula, McIntosh Co.
US-69 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between the Pittsburg County line and Eufaula for pavement rehabilitation.
SH-63/SH-1 narrowed to one lane near Wilburton, Latimer Co.
SH-63/SH-1 is narrowed to one lane with a temporary signal in place two miles east of SH-2 south of Wilburton for bridge replacement.
SH-3 narrowed to one lane near Broken Bow, McCurtain Co.
SH-3 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place one mile and also four miles northwest of Broken Bow for bridge rehabilitation.
US-77/SH-39 lanes shifted, speed limit reduced between Purcell and Lexington, McClain/Cleveland Co.
US-77/SH-39 will be narrowed and lanes shifted between Purcell and Lexington for bridge reconstruction.
US-270 narrowed at US-270B in Shawnee, Pottawatomie Co.
US-270 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at US-270 Business/Kickapoo Spur in Shawnee for bridge rehabilitation.
US-270 closed in Seminole, Seminole Co.
US-270 is closed just south of SH-9 in Seminole through Friday for resurfacing. Traffic is detoured to SH-9 and US-377/SH-99.
US-77 narrowed to one lane near Guthrie, Logan Co.
US-77 is narrowed to one lane with a traffic signal in place three miles north of SH-33 near Guthrie for bridge replacement.
US-81 narrowed near Kingfisher, Kingfisher Co.
US-81 is narrowed to one lane in each direction between one mile south of SH-33 and three miles south of SH-33 near Kingfisher for pavement reconstruction.
SH-6 narrowed in Elk City, Beckham Co.
SH-6 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at I-40 in Elk City for pavement and bridge reconstruction.
US-270 speed limit reduced near Seiling, Dewey Co.
Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on US-270 from SH-51 northwest three miles near Seiling for pavement reconstruction.
SH-152 closed near Dill City, Washita Co.
SH-152 is closed about one mile east of SH-44 near Dill City for bridge replacement. Traffic is detoured to SH-44, I-40 and US-183.
SH-19 closed near Caddo County line, Kiowa Co.
SH-19 is closed between SH-115 and SH-58 near the Caddo County line for bridge replacement. Traffic is detoured to SH-115, SH-9 and SH-58.
SH-15 narrowed to one lane in Fargo, Ellis Co.
SH-15 is narrowed to one lane with a traffic signal in place in Fargo for resurfacing and shoulder work.
US-270/US-183 narrowed near Seiling, Woodward Co.
US-270/US-183 is narrowed to one lane in each direction about six miles northwest of Seiling for pavement and reconstruction.
US-62 narrowed near Indiahoma, Comanche Co.
US-62 is narrowed to one lane in each direction about three miles east of the Kiowa County line near Indiahoma for bridge repair.
US-64 narrowed at SH-99, Pawnee Co.
US-64 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at SH-99 near Cleveland for pavement and bridge reconstruction.
US-60 speed limit reduced in Afton, Ottawa Co.
Drivers should be alert to reduced speeds on US-60 in Afton for bridge replacement.
US-60 closed east of Nowata, Nowata Co.
US-60 is closed from three miles east of US-169 to about three miles west of SH-28 near Nowata for bridge replacement. Traffic is detoured on US-169 and SH-28.
SH-99 narrowed to one lane near Oilton, Creek Co.
SH-99 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place just north of SH-51 near of Oilton for bridge rehabilitation.
SH-48 narrowed to one lane near Mannford, Creek Co.
SH-48 is narrowed to one lane with temporary signals in place two miles north of SH-51 near Mannford for bridge replacement
SH-125 closed in Miami, Ottawa Co.
SH-125 is closed just south of US-69 in Miami for bridge rehabilitation. Traffic is detoured to US-69 and US-60.
Oklahoma City Metro
I-235 lanes narrowed, shifted near I-44
Motorists should be alert to lane shifts and narrowed lanes on I-235 between N. 50th St. and N. 63rd St. for interchange reconstruction and widening.
I-35 lanes shifted, ramp closed near I-44
The following closures can be expected on north and southbound I-35 over Deep Fork Creek between the I-44 interchange (mm 133) and N.E. 50th St. (mm 132A) for bridge reconstruction:
- Southbound I-35 lanes are shifted N.E 63rd St.
- Southbound I-35 E. Frontage Rd. is narrowed to one lane from N.E. 63rd St. to N.E. 50th St.
- Southbound I-35 on-ramp from E. Frontage Rd. at Bryant Ave. is closed.
- Northbound I-35 is narrowed to two lanes between N.E. 50th St. (mm 132A) and the I-44 interchange (mm 133)
Alternate route options include SH-74/Lake Hefner Parkway and I-44.
I-44 bridge/ramp narrowed to one lane at May Ave. The westbound I-44 bridge/ramp is narrowed to one lane between May Ave. (mm 124) and N.W. 36th St. for bridge rehabilitation. This ramp runs westbound to southbound and stretches over SH-66 (39th Expwy) and SH-74 (Lake Hefner Pkwy).
I-40 lanes shifted between I-240 and Peebly Rd., Triple X Rd. bridge closed
Drivers should be alert to narrowed and shifted lanes on east and westbound I-40 between I-240 (mm 165) and Peebly Rd. (mm 169) for ongoing interchange reconstruction and widening. The Triple X Rd. bridge over I-40 is closed and drivers must use an alternate route. Note: This work zone is adjacent to an Oklahoma Turnpike Authority work zone on I-40 between Peebly Rd. (mm 169) and Harrah-Newalla Rd. (mm 172). I-44 ramp narrowed at S.W. 89th St.
The westbound I-44 (runs south) off-ramp to S.W. 89th St. (mm 113) is narrowed as part of a City of Oklahoma City widening project.
I-40 lanes shifted, service road narrowed at SH-4/Mustang Rd.
East and westbound I-40 lanes are shifted between SH-4/Mustang Rd. (mm 138) and Morgan Rd. (mm 140) and the eastbound and westbound I-40 collector road is narrowed to one lane between SH-4/Mustang Rd. (mm 138) and the John Kilpatrick Turnpike (mm 139) for work by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority. I-35 ramps at SH-37/S. Fourth St. closed, detoured; SH-37 narrowed in Moore
Drivers can expect the following closures and detours for ongoing bridge rehabilitation:
- The northbound I-35 on-ramp from SH-37 is closed. Traffic is detoured to Howard Ave. and S.W. Fourth to the on-ramp from the northbound I-35 service road.
- The northbound I-35 off-ramp to SH-37/S. Fourth St./Main St./N. Fifth St. (mm 117) is open; however, drivers cannot turn right onto S. Fourth St. from the ramp. Drivers can continue north on the service road to Main St. or can use the off-ramp at S. 19th St. (mm 116) and Broadway Ave. as a detour.
- SH-37 is narrowed to one lane in each direction at I-35.
I-35 lanes shift near S. 19th St. in Moore
I-35 lanes are shifted between S. 19th St. (mm 116) and Indian Hills Rd. (mm 114) for ongoing bridge construction. S.W. 34th St. closed to through traffic at Telephone Rd. and the east and west I-35 service roads are narrowed to one lane with temporary traffic signals at S.W. 34th St.
SH-74 lanes shifted at N.W. 164th St.
North and southbound SH-74 lanes are temporarily shifted between N.W. 164th and N.W. 178th St. and traffic on N.W. 206th St./Covell Rd. west of SH-74 will experience a slight shift in travel lanes for ongoing widening.
OKC Boulevard closed at various locations
Oklahoma City Boulevard intersections between Shields/EK Gaylord Blvd. and Walker Ave., are open but remain four-way stops. Drivers in downtown Oklahoma City should pay close attention to signage and should plan extra travel time in the area.
Closures and lane impacts are:
- OKC Boulevard drivers will not be able to turn onto Harvey Ave.
- Reno Ave. is narrowed to one lane in each direction and traffic is shifted between Klein and Walker;
- Northbound lanes of Western Ave. are closed at S.W. Third St.;
- Western Ave. and Classen Blvd. are closed between S.W. Third St. and W. Sheridan Ave.;
- Drivers will not be able to make a left turn from Reno Ave. onto S. Western Ave.;
- Exchange Ave. is permanently closed at Western Ave. and Reno Ave.;
- California St. is permanently closed at Classen Blvd.; and
- S.W. Fifth St. is an eastbound only detour between Western Ave. and Walker Ave.
If traveling I-40, motorists are encouraged to exit at Penn Ave. or Robinson Ave.
SH-3/N.W. Expressway narrowed at SH-4 near Piedmont
SH-3/N.W. Expressway is narrowed to one lane in each direction between Gregory Rd. and SH-4 near Piedmont for resurfacing.
SH-3/N.W. Expressway narrowed at US-81 near Okarche
SH-3/N.W. Expressway is narrowed to one lane in each direction at US-81 just south of Okarche for bridge rehabilitation
Tulsa Metro
Lane, ramp closures on I-244, US-75, US-64, SH-51 on south, east legs of Inner Dispersal Loop
On the south leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop:
- Southbound US-75/westbound US-64/SH-51 is narrowed to two lanes on the south leg of the IDL.
- All lanes of northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 are closed on the south leg of the IDL between the I-244 junction and the US-75 split. Drivers should follow the west and north legs around the IDL during this time.
- The westbound I-244/eastbound US-64/SH-51 and the eastbound I-244/northbound US-75 ramps to northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 are closed at the southwest corner of the IDL. The eastbound I-244 off-ramp to 7th at the southwest corner of the IDL will remain open.
- The northbound US-75/eastbound US-64/SH-51 on-ramps from Houston Ave., 13th and Denver Ave. on the south leg of the IDL are closed.
- The Cincinnati Ave. ramp to eastbound US-64/SH-51 at the southeast corner of the IDL will remain open.
On the east leg of the Inner Dispersal Loop, east of downtown Tulsa:
- Northbound US-75 is narrowed between the southeast corner of the IDL and 7th; the off-ramp to 7th St. will remain open for local traffic. (Note – westbound US-64/-SH-51 traffic needing access to downtown will also be able to access ramps on the south leg of the IDL at the Detroit Ave. and Denver Ave. exits.)
- All lanes of northbound US-75 are closed between 7th and the I-244 junction at the northeast corner of the IDL. Traffic needing access to northbound US-75 should follow the west and north legs around the IDL.
Delays can be expected, especially during peak travel times. Drivers should plan ahead for extra travel time in these areas. Detour maps are available at https://tinyurl.com/y3j46ao7
As a reminder, this work zone is adjacent to the following:
US-64/SH-51/Broken Arrow Expressway narrowed near Inner Dispersal Loop
Eastbound US-64/SH-51/Broken Arrow Expressway is narrowed to two lanes from the southeast corner of the Inner Dispersal Loop to near 21st St. South for bridge rehabilitation.
I-244, SH-11 lanes and ramps closed near Tulsa International Airport
- I-244 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction at the SH-11 junction (mm 12B).
- East and westbound Pine St. is narrowed to one lane at the SH-11 junction.
- East and westbound SH-11 is narrowed to one open lane in each direction from Pine St. to the Tulsa International Airport complex. Be alert to traffic shifts in this corridor.
- The eastbound SH-11 off-ramp to Memorial Dr. is closed; detour to Virgin St. and follow signed detour route to Memorial Drive.
- The eastbound SH-11 on-ramp from Virgin St. is closed; use signed detour route on Memorial Dr. and Pine Street.
- The eastbound SH-11 off-ramp to eastbound I-244 is narrowed.
I-44 narrowed at 49th W. Ave.
I-44 is narrowed to two lanes in each direction at 49th W. Ave (mm 222A) for bridge maintenance.
SH-20 narrowed near Skiatook
SH-20 is narrowed to one lane in each direction just east of SH-11 near Skiatook for bridge rehabilitation.
