Near drowning accident at Robber’s Cave State Park Featured

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol, report a near drowning incident that occurred on July 2, 2018 at approximately 6:48 pm in Deep Ford Creek in Robber’s Cave State Park, approximately 5 miles west of Wilburton, OK in Latimer County.

 

According to the OHP report, civilians drove up to the creek and noticed a male subject in the water bobbing up and down.


They realized the victim was struggling and sent for help at a nearby pool with lifeguards on duty.


Life guards and civilians jumped in the water and started to pull the subject to shore.


Subject became combative causing life the life guard and civilians to struggle.


Two deputies arrived on scene and jumped in the water and assisted getting the victim to the shore.


EMS arrived and transported the subject to the hospital.


The subject was identified as Jared Wilson, 44, from Okmulgee, OK.

 

He was transported by Pafford EMS to Latimer County General Hospital and life flighted by Tulsa Life Flight to St. John Hospital in Tulsa.


He was listed in critical condition.

 

The incident was investigated by OHP, the Latimer County Sheriff’s Office, Pafford EMS, and Wilburton Fire Department.
