LEXINGTON, Okla. -- A Correctional Officer was found unresponsive in her residence early Saturday morning. The officer, who worked at Lexington Assessment & Reception Center, later died at an area hospital.
“The entire DOC family is heartbroken,” ODOC Director Joe M. Allbaugh said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to this dedicated officer’s family as they attempt to pick up the pieces from this loss.”
The officer was discovered around 6:45 a.m. by a supervising CO who had gone by her residence to check on her well-being.
That officer knocked on her door and received no response. He then entered and found her unresponsive. He immediately called 911.
An ambulance and the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office responded.
A ruling on the CO’s cause of death is pending an autopsy by the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner.
