The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is holding a special ceremony at 10:00 am February 20, 2019 in Classroom E at the Robert E. Lester Training Center located at 3600 N. Martin Luther King.

The OHP will be honoring Former Lieutenant Ronnie Johnson #92 and dedicating the third deck of the training center in his memory.

The third deck, or third floor, is the area where recruits live during the academy.

Lt. Johnson was a graduate of the 23rd Academy in 1968 and was the first black male to graduate the OHP Patrol School, breaking the racial barrier and paving the way for blacks and other minorities.

Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to Sarah Stewart, Director of Media Operations at sarah.stewart@dps.ok.gov
