According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, an Okeene man was injured after being by a train.

The incident occurred at 12:30 pm on May 28, 2019 on the Union Pacific tracks located 15 feet south and 40 feet east of Kingfisher in Kingfisher County.

According to the report, Dakota Eugene Welch 23, of Okeene was walking southbound on railroad tracks while listening to music and did not hear train approaching from behind.

The train struck Welch and continued south for a short distance before stopping.

Welch was thrown a short distance from the railroad tracks and came to rest.

 

He was transported from the scene by Air Evac to OU Medical in Oklahoma City and was admitted in in stable condition with head and trunk external injuries.

 

The accident was Investigated by OHP, Kingfisher PD, Kingfisher FD, and Air Evac.
